Make your own Dog Treats
Today I am going to share my recipe for Liver Bread, a delicious and easy to make treat for your pups.
Ingredients
250g fresh chicken livers
Cake flour
2-3 eggs
Oats
Optional tin of tuna/pilchards
You will need a mixing bowl and a hand mixer or blender to break up the livers
If you do not have a hand blender you can chop the livers with a knife until they are as small as possible, as close to a paste as you can get them
Method:
- Put all of the chicken livers into a bowl and using a hand blender, mix until relatively smooth
- Crack open the eggs into the same bowl and blitz once more making sure eggs are combined well
- If you wish – add a tin of drained tuna or similar and use a wooden spoon to mix
- Add flour until mixture is a little thicker but still moist
- Add oats until the mixture is quite thick and sticks to the spoon
- Place on grease proof paper and the onto flat oven proof dish and spread out evenly so it’s around 1-2cm thick
- Put into the oven for 20 minutes at 180 degrees
Check the middle of the bread is not soft using a wooden stick. If it comes out clean then it is done. - Leave to cool for 10 minutes
- Cut into pieces
- Leave to cool completely
- Place into air tight container or bag and freeze
